Dix-Neuf  Co-editor

The Society of Dix-Neuviémistes seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified colleagues working in a field of nineteenth-century French studies to replace Prof. Nigel Harkness as co-editor of the Society’s journal, Dix-Neuf.

The Society is looking for someone who will work closely with the other two co-editors, Prof. Helen Abbott and Dr Cheryl Krueger, and with the journal’s publisher, Taylor & Francis, to take Dix-Neuf to the next stage of its development as a major outlet for innovative research in nineteenth-century French studies, and who will network and promote the journal effectively.

The term of appointment is 5 years from 1st January 2017.  The successful candidate will be co-opted onto the Executive Committee of the Society from the same date.

The following qualities will be essential:

  • Strong academic standing in the discipline
  • A good academic network, or the potential to grow one, in order to choose readers for work submitted and solicit submissions or proposals for guest-edited special numbers
  • Excellent organizational skills in order to manage the submission, peer-review, text editing and proofing processes. Experience of editorial work would be a distinct advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships with authors, reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, the Society of Dix-Neuviémistes and the Publisher
  • The ability to think creatively about the future development of the Journal

Expressions of interest, outlining your experience and the contribution you can make, should be sent to the President of the Society of Dix-Neuviémistes, Professor Anne Green – anne.green@kcl.ac.uk -- by Friday 23 September 2016

The appointment will be made by the Executive Committee of SDN in consultation with members of the Dix-Neuf editorial board.

Further information on Dix-Neuf may be found on the Society’s website following this link, or on the Taylor & Francis website.
