Aim of conference
This conference aims to re-situate Beckett's drama in the context of modern theatre (theatrical theories and practices) and to explore that relationship in the broadest possible sense.
Papers on ANY aspect of this general theme from academics and theatre practitioners would be welcome.

Possible topics
- The relationship of Beckett's work to that of other 20th Century dramatists.
- Situating and contextualising Beckett in terms of modern theatrical theories and practices.
- Beckett and contemporary performance theory.
- Issues surrounding the directing and re-staging of Beckett's plays and the controversies surrounding them.
- Beckett's influence on playwrights, plays, and theatre.
- Questioning previous interpretations of Beckett's relationship to 20th Century theatre (for example, the Theatre of the Absurd).
- Beckett and the avant-garde.
- Beckett's influence on British, French, German and Irish theatre.
- Filming Beckett's plays.
