With nine tenured academic staff and six PhD fellows, Comparative Literature is the largest research and teaching environment in Comparative Literature in Norway. The discipline includes text analysis, literary theory, classical and modern poetics, literary methodology and literary history.
Research activities include all core areas of literary studies, as well as interdisciplinary research fields. Teaching is provided on the bachelor’s programme in aesthetic studies and comparative literature (https://www.uio.no/studier/program/esal/, in Norwegian) with an associated one-year programme, as well as on the master's programme in comparative literature (Allmenn litteraturvitenskap (master - to år) – Universitetet i Oslo (uio.no) (in Norwegian).
The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD candidates, participate in teaching and in exam setting and assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the department.
They may also be assigned teaching in other sections at the department.
