Titre : Résistances à la modernité. Il s'agitde réfléchir à ce qui dans les oeuvres littéraires en langue française, del'aube de la Révolution industrielle à l'extrême contemporain, s'oppose à lamodernité. Les approches interdisciplinaires originales reposant sur lasociologie, la philosophie ou les études culturelles sont les bienvenues, commecelles qui tentent de faire le point sur une période, un auteur, ou unmouvement littéraire. Les suggestions ci-après ne sont en aucun caslimitatives : frontières entre modernité et non-modernité, stratégies deformulation de la résistance dans le texte des oeuvres considérées, nature deces résistances, de la lutte frontale contre les manifestations de la modernité(capitalisme, technologie…) aux courants souterrains qui la mettentindirectement en cause. Les contributions peuvent être soumises en français ouen anglais. La publication de cet ouvrage est envisagée pour décembre 2009.

Title: Resistance to modernity. We shall examine those elementswhich are opposed to modernity as found in French literary works dating fromthe dawn of the Industrial Revolution to the most recent contemporary texts.Fresh interdisciplinary approaches drawing from sociology, philosophy andcultural studies are welcome, as are those which seek to concentrate on aperiod, author, or literary movement. Topics for essays may include, but are inno way limited to, the following subject areas: borderlines between modernityand non-modernity, strategies used to formulate resistance in selected works,various types of resistance, from frontal assaults on modernity and itsmanifestations (capitalism and technology, for instance) to textualundercurrents which call it into question by more indirect means. Writtencontributions may be submitted in either French or English. This work isdesignated to be published in December, 2009.
