The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a one-year term position in French at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2003, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in French or be near completion. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate French language and literature courses and will have native or near-native fluency in French and English, as well as some experience teaching French as a second language at the post-secondary level. Competence in computer-assisted language learning would also be an asset.

The University aspires to hire individuals who have demonstrated considerable potential for excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and especially those who have well-established research programs. New Faculty are eligible for funding in support of research and scholarly activities. Located in southern Alberta, near the Rocky Mountains, Lethbridge offers a sunny, dry climate that is surprisingly mild for the prairies, excellent cultural and recreational amenities and attractive economic conditions. The position is open to all qualified applicants, although preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
