SmallAxeinvites article submissions on Haitian and Francophone Caribbean themes
Since 2005, SmallAxe has published four special issues devoted to Francophone material: “Profondes et nombreuses: Haiti and the Revolution, 1804–2004”(September 2005); “Haiti Now!: Art, Film, Literature” (September 2008); “Relating the FrancophoneCaribbean” (November 2009); and “Littérature-Monde and the Caribbean” (November2010).
Following the success of these issues, we are nowseeking to integrate the Francophone material into our regular issues in orderto encourage dialogue and debate across the languages of the region. Ourintention is to consolidate Small Axe'sposition as the leading venue for critical considerations of Caribbean cultureand politics by juxtaposing cutting-edge work in Anglophone and FrancophoneCaribbean scholarship. We are uniquely placed to facilitate these dialogues;with intellectual roots deep in the Anglo-Creole traditions of journals such asSavacou and New World Quarterly, and published by Duke University Press, wecombine a particular and intense focus on the Caribbean with an eye to thebroader world and our place in it.
We invite scholars of Haiti and the FrancophoneCaribbean to submit their work to SmallAxe and to join with us as we continue to promote and advance criticalunderstanding of our region. Submission guidelines can be found at our website(www.smallaxe.net), where you can alsofind out more about the latest developments in Small Axe, including our new online literary salon.
