Ce colloque s’inscrit dans le projet de recherche MODA (La Mondialisation de Dante) lancé en mai 2018 à l’Université de Lorraine (Nancy) par Giuseppe Sangirardi (laboratoire LIS) avec la collaboration d’Antonella Braida (laboratoire IDEA). Conçu et réalisé en partenariat avec Giuseppe Ledda (Dipartimento di Filologia Classica e Italianistica dell’Università di Bologna), Sebastiana Nobili (Dipartimento di Beni Culturali dell’Università di Bologna, sede di Ravenna) e Alessandro Zironi (Dipartimento di Lingue Letterature e Culture Moderne dell’Università di Bologna),avec la collaboration du Centro Dantesco dei Frati Minori Conventuali di Ravenna et de l’Istituzione Biblioteca Classense - Comune di Ravenna, le colloque La Mondialisation de Dante II se situe dans le prolongement de plusieurs manifestations et publications, notamment du colloque La Mondialisation de Dante I, consacré à l’Europe, qui a eu lieu à Nancy en octobre 2021 sous le parrainage du Comitato nazionale per la celebrazione dei 700 anni dalla morte di Dante (dont les actes ont été publiés par l’éditeur Longo en 2022).
L’objectif de l’ensemble du projet est de réaliser une cartographie à plusieurs niveaux de la réception de l’œuvre de Dante dans le monde contemporain à partir du XIXe siècle, en privilégiant notamment : a) l’élargissement des territoires géographiques de la réception ; b) l’élargissement des modalités de la réception ; c) la mise en place d’outils cartographiques offrant des accès à une vision d’ensemble qui est l’objectif final du projet.
Ce colloque sera consacré aux aires linguistiques et culturelles extra-européennes ; comme le précédent, il sera structuré en trois rubriques.
-Section 1 : Loin de l’Europe. Il s’agira d’étudier la réception littéraire dans ses différentes formes (critique, récriture et intertextualité, imitation d’auteur et phénomènes génériques) à partir du XIXe siècle, telle qu’elle s’est développée dans les aires linguistiques et culturelles extra-européennes (avec une attention particulière mais non exclusive aux aires les moins explorées à ce jour, notamment les langues et cultures des pays asiatiques et africains.
-Section 2 : Loin de la littérature. Il s’agira d’étudier, en faisant toujours référence aux aires extra-européennes et à partir du XIXe siècle, les formes non-littéraires de la réception dantesque moderne et contemporaine (toujours à partir du XIXe siècle), allant des arts figuratifs au cinéma, du théâtre à la musique, de la bande dessinée au street art, sans oublier les langages plus strictement déterminés par les activités économiques, comme la publicité, la production de gadgets, etc., qui pourront être envisagés sous l’angle sémiologique, sociologique ou plus généralement culturel.
-Section 3 : Archives. L’objet d’étude, toujours dans le cadre des aires extra-européennes, sera constitué par les formes d’archivage concernant la réception, traditionnelles (bibliographies, répertoires imprimés, études de synthèses), mais surtout novatrices et liées aux technologies numériques (sites, réseaux sociaux, plateformes), le but étant de partir du recensement de l’existant pour parvenir à des créations originales et fonctionnelles.
Le colloque se déroulera en deux étapes, la première à l’Université de Lorraine (Nancy) les 10 et 11 octobre 2024 ; la seconde à l’Université de Bologne (Bologne et Ravenne) les 22 et 23 novembre 2024. Seront acceptées des propositions de communications en français, italien et anglais.

Les chercheurs intéressés sont invités à faire parvenir aux organisateurs (antonella.braida-laplace@univ-lorraine.fr, joseph cadeddu@univ-lorraine.fr et giuseppe.sangirardi@univ-lorraine.fr, giuseppe.ledda@unibo.it) leur proposition (titre avec une dizaine de lignes de résumé) accompagnée d’une courte notice bio-bibliographique pour le 31 mars 2024. En fonction des thématiques proposées, l’organisation se réserve de choisir le lieu d’affectation des intervenants, à moins qu’ils n’aient donné une indication contraire (qui souhaite conditionner sa participation à l’intervention dans l’un des lieux du colloque est prié de le signaler explicitement).
L’organisation prendra en charge les frais de séjour (hébergement et repas) ; le voyage sera à la charge des participants (toutefois, les auteurs de propositions retenues par le comité d’organisation qui auraient des difficultés insurmontables à faire financer leur voyage pourront demander des contributions qui seront attribuées en fonction des fonds disponibles).

This conference is part of the MODA research project (The Globalization of Dante) started in May 2018 at the Université de Lorraine (Nancy) by Giuseppe Sangirardi (LIS research center) in collaboration with Antonella Braida (IDEA research center). Conceived and organised in partnership with Giuseppe Ledda (Dipartimento di Filologia Classica e Italianistica dell’Università di Bologna), Sebastiana Nobili (Dipartimento di Beni Culturali dell’Università di Bologna, sede di Ravenna) and Alessandro Zironi (Dipartimento di Lingue Letterature e Culture Moderne dell’Università di Bologna), with the collaboration of the Centro Dantesco dei Frati Minori Conventuali di Ravenna and the Istituzione Biblioteca Classense - Comune di Ravenna, the conference The Globalization of Dante II is the continuation of various events and publications, and in particular of the conference The Globalization of Dante I, devoted to Europe and held in Nancy in October 2021 with the patronage of the Comitato nazionale per la celebrazione dei 700 anni dalla morte di Dante (the proceedings were published by the publisher Longo in 2022).
The overall objective of the project is to create a multi-level cartography of the reception of Dante's work in the contemporary world, starting from the nineteenth century, focusing in particular on: a) the expansion of the geographical spaces of reception; b) widening reception methods; c) and, as the final objective of the project, the creation of cartographic tools that will provide an overall vision of the globalization of Dante.
This conference will be devoted to non-European linguistic and cultural areas, and will be structured, like the previous one, into three sections.
- Section 1: Outside Europe. The aim will be to study the literary reception of Dante in its various forms (criticism, rewriting and intertextuality, authorial imitation and generic phenomena) starting from the nineteenth century onwards, and assess its development in non-European linguistic-cultural areas (with particular but not exclusive attention to those that are relatively less explored today, particularly languages and cultures of Asian and African countries).
- Section 2: Outside the literature. The aim will be to study, always with reference to non-European areas and starting from the nineteenth century, the non-literary forms of the modern and contemporary reception of Dante, from the visual arts to cinema, from theatre to music, from comics to street art, including forms of art more directly determined by economic activities, such as advertising, the production of gadgets, etc., which can be considered from a semiological, sociological or more generally, from a cultural point of view.
- Section 3: Archives. This section will be devoted, again with reference to non-European areas, to the forms of archiving that affect reception, both traditional ones (bibliographies, printed repertoires, synthesis studies) and above all innovative ones and those associated with online technologies (sites, networks, platforms), with the objective of mapping existing archives and producing original devices.
The conference will take place in two stages: the first at the University de Lorraine (Nancy) on 10-11 October 2024; the second at the Università degli studi di Bologna (Bologna and Ravenna) on 22-23 November 2024.
Proposals for papers in French, Italian and English will be accepted.
Contributors are invited to send to the organizers (antonella.braida-laplace@univ-lorraine.fr, joseph.cadeddu@univ-lorraine.fr and giuseppe.sangirardi@univ-lorraine.fr, giuseppe.ledda@unibo.it) their proposal (title with a ten-line summary) accompanied by a short bio-bibliographic note by 31 March 2024. Depending on the topics proposed, the organization reserves the right to choose the venue for the participants' contribution, unless otherwise stated (those who wish to take part into one of the two locations only are asked to indicate this explicitly).
The organizers will provide living expenses (accommodation and food); travel expenses will be paid for by the participants (however, authors of proposals accepted by the organizing committee, who have insurmountable difficulties in having their trip financed, may apply for contributions, but these will be allocated according to the funds available).
