- The French in the Americas
Proposals should address accounts by or about the French in the Americas before 1800 (including the Caribbean, Louisiana, New France, the Pacific, Philadelphia, etc.). One-page abstracts. by 10 March 2011; Mary McAlpin (mmcalpin@utk.edu) and Michelle Burnham (MBurnham@scu.edu).

- Rousseau at 300
The continuing importance of Jean-Jacques Rousseau to democratic/republican politics. A wide range of approaches welcome. Papers could treat science, art, and culture as well as political theory. abstracts by 15 March 2011; Susan A. Maslan (samaslan@berkeley.edu).

- The Viatic Eighteenth Century
Inviting papers that investigate travel, migration, circulation. Interdisciplinary approaches and a range of topics welcome: roads, ships; immigration, emigration; colonization; diaspora, return; money; imports, exports; fashions, fads.
