Da Giuditta a Charlotte Corday. Donne assassine in mito, arte, letteratura / From Judith to Charlotte Corday. Female murderers in myth, art and literature (Quaderni di Studio indo-mediterranei)
Volume XVI (2024) of the Quaderni di Studi Indo-Mediterranei series is entitled "From Judith to Charlotte Corday. Female murderers in myth, art and literature". The two famous female figures mentioned in the title are intended to provide only a rough indication of the time frame, in the sense that contributions may concern figures of ‘female murderers’ from the most remote antiquity to the present day, without any delimitation in terms of cultural, religious, ethno-linguistic or geographical area. Similarly, the title should not be understood in the narrow sense of female protagonists of a political murder, as it could well include different typologies, exemplified by the case of the infanticidal Medea in Greek myth, the Tosca from Puccini's eponymous opera, witches with a murderous reputation, or famous uxoricides. On the other hand, in principle, crime cases should not be included unless they have had a clear and widespread reflection, outside journalism, also in art or literature. As far as myth is concerned, articles on supernatural or fantastic female figures, such as goddesses, monsters, ogres, etc., known for their deadly powers, may also be of interest. Finally, one or two contributions at most may also be accepted in the field of comic literature and its reflection in cinema.
