We are currently accepting applications for the Academic Year 2024-2025 for a Ph.D. in Literary, Cultural, and Linguistic Studies at the University of Miami. The application portal closes on December 4, 2023.
Our Ph.D. program is a unique hybrid between traditional language departments and Comparative Literature, as it provides comprehensive intellectual and pedagogical training in Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese while also encouraging interdisciplinarity across the Hispanophone, Francophone, and Lusophone worlds but also researching Italian, Arabic, Chinese, and Indigenous language, and cultural traditions. In close dialogue with our extraordinary faculty, research projects often bridge distinct geographic and epistemological traditions, as they might compare two language traditions while deploying methods proper to sociolinguistics or critical studies of language, Digital Humanities, or critical studies in race, gender, and sexuality.
We welcome applications and kindly ask you to widely distribute this information to undergraduate and graduate students in Spanish, French, and Portuguese who might be interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Literary, Cultural, and Linguistic Studies at the University of Miami.
