
Assistant Professor of French: NorthAfrican and Beur Literatures and Cultures
Applicationsare invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to commenceJuly 1, 2010, subject to final budgetaryapproval.
TheDepartment is seeking a specialist in Maghreban Literature and in the cultural andliterary production of North African migrants to France and their offspring. Secondaryinterests in other areas of the francophone world and/or postcolonial studies wouldbe an asset.
The successful candidate will teachundergraduate and/or graduate courses in all periods of the field ofspecialization, and occasionally French language courses at the undergraduate level.He or she will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teachingand service. We seek outstanding candidates with bridging interests who willcomplement existing strengths within the Department and in programs and unitssuch as African Studies, European Studies, Theatre and Film, and Gender Studies.
Acompleted PhD (or solid indication of imminent completion) in French Studies isrequired. Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in French, with agood command of English, and are expected to demonstrate potential for highquality research and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
