Call for papers: Conference of the Midwest Modern Language Association, Cleveland, Ohio, 1-3 November 2001. Possible paper topics include but are not limited to the intersection of recent post-community theory (Nancy, Agamben, Derrida, Lingis, Anderson) and literature (of whatever period), the influence of post-community theory on "rights" discourses, the significance of Lacanian psychoanalysis for the thinking of community, the challenge of post-community theory for the social sciences. Also welcome are papers that treat film, popular culture, music, etc. at the limits of representation. Particularly welcome are those papers that seek to read texts in the name of a coming community.
