Geographies of Negligence: Neighborhood Cultures, Popular Activism and Citizenship in the Arab Region

Publié le par Marc Escola (Source : Walid El Hamamsy)

Organized by the British Council in Egypt, Citizen Academia Network (University of Kent), and Forum for the Study of Popular Culture, this multidisciplinary workshop seeks to tackle a variety of key issues related to the new social actors who are emerging, not only in Egypt but in the Arab region and even globally to fight for their long-confiscated right to representation against authoritarian regimes. In this light, the workshop seeks to highlight key theoretical interventions in the study of cultural and political geographies and examine the role of community initiatives and popular cultural practices in this battle, while also strengthening networks between researchers in the field and civil actors.
