Description donnée par l'éditeur:
A feminist re-reading of the Quebec literary tradition, Women and Narrative Identity shows that female writers have made significant contributions to Quebec's ongoing process of cultural self-definition. The Quebec identity narrative has offered women writers from Gabrielle Roy to Anne Hébert to Marie-Claire Blais a framework within which they not only make their voices heard but also tell a story of feminine dispossession and desire that questions central cultural values.
