Born on September 21, 1994 in Romania, Despina Jderu is a researcher working on French literature and Literary Theory (grief and narratology).
A former president of Goncourt Prize - The Choice of Romania (2016-2020), she is teaching literary theory. She is a member of the International Society for Fiction and Fictionality Studies (ISFFS), Réseau des narratologues francophones (RéNaF), European Narratology Network (ENN), Société d'étude de la littérature de langue française du XXe et du XXIe siècles (SELF XX-XXI), the Swiss Association of Comparative Literature (ASLGC) and a fellow of the Institute for World Literature of Harvard University.
She is currently a Research Fellow in the French department at the University of Fribourg.
