Missives and Miscommunications

Publié le par Marielle Macé (Source : Robert Sapp)

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is pleased to announce the inaugural issue of Virgule, a peer-reviewed online graduate journal of French and Francophone Studies. Our first issue will be dedicated to the topic of missives and miscommunications.

As we prepare our premiere issue, we are particularly interested in the possibilities and pitfalls inherent to acts of creation and reception. From intercepted letters to interactive hypertext, attempts to communicate drive narratives, but also have the potential to negotiate the relationship between author and reader, speaker and audience, creator and viewer. We are currently seeking article submissions that deal with such missives and/or miscommunications through language, text and art.

Virgule welcomes submissions with creative approaches that engage issues relevant to French and Francophone studies written by graduate students of any level or field.

Submissions should include (1) an original article written in English or French, following standard MLA style, between 3,300-5,000 words in length and (2) in a separate document, a 250-300 word abstract along with the author's name, academic affiliation and email address. Please do not include any personal information in the document containing the manuscript. All submission materials should be sent as attachments in Microsoft Word format to virgulejournal@gmail.com with relevant contact information in the body of the message.
