Appel à communications / Call for Papers

Colloque international / International colloquium

Université d'Abidjan-Cocody (Côte d'Ivoire) / University of Abidjan-Cocody (Côte d'Ivoire)

29- 30 Mai 2008 / 29-30 May 2008

This colloquium would like to propose a new approach to historiography as it is formulated through narratives whose object and subject are Africa and its Diaspora.

Indeed, following a doxa influencing methodology, the writing of African histories, as well as those of the Diaspora, seems to give rise to a History, biased and partial, that is, whose framework, actors, structure, narration and stakes leading to the determining of social relationship, play an essentially male function.

Far from being feminist, this colloquium offers the opportunity to think historiography, by giving it its occulted part. In other words, it will be a question of analyzing the different forms of representation (literatures, arts, mythologies, epics, social history, political and identity resistances, etc.) whose articulations remain specifically those of the feminine and its hero figure.

Communications will tackle the following axes:

Axis 1: Feminine History and histories

-This axis takes into account the literary representation of the feminine, be it at the level of historical epistemology or of fictional diegesis.

Axis 2: Creations and representations of the feminine

-Here, it will be a question of enhancing the representational iconicity of the feminine

Axis 3: Women and society

- The concern here will be to analyze the status and the participation of the woman in the writing of the history of her society.
