This workshop, co-organised by the Leeds Centre for Dante Studies and the Department of French at the University of Leeds, will explore aspects of the reception of Dante in French culture from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century.

Alex MacMillan (Independent scholar): ‘Dante, Romantic France and the Politics of the (Grammatical) Period'

Peter Cooke (Manchester): ‘The Dantean and the Dantesque: The Divine Comedy and Nineteenth-Century French Painting'
