2001 GEMCS conference on Space, Philadelphia, November 15-18.

call for papers on any aspect of (or angle on) women's spaces in the early modern period (interpreted as broadly as possible, this is 1453-1840).
We are especially interested in cross-disciplinary approaches.
Possible topics: representation of women in art, feminized architectural spaces (the drawing room, the boudoir), space and women's occupations, images of enclosure, politics and liminal space, gothic spaces, dancing and space, class differences in women's spaces, etc.

Proposals should consist of one-page abstracts including
talk title, presenter's name, complete mailing address,
institutional affiliation (if any), and email
address.
