‘The Fall of the angels' in eurasia from antiquity to the modern world

the Board of Editors of the new interdisciplinary journal Quaderni di Studi Indo-Mediterranei (http://www2.lingue.unibo.it/studi%20indo-mediterranei/) is soliciting contributions to its fourth, thematic volume, scheduled to appear in september 2011. This issue will contain twelve to fifteen essays addressing any aspects of this theme:

“The ‘fall of the angels' in Eurasia from antiquity to the modern world” .

Possible topics, to be approached either comparatively and/or thematically, include:

· theological treatises and other religious/philosophical works on angelology and demonology (particularly concerned with the fall of the angels, of Lucypher etc.), produced and spread in the Indo-Mediterranean world

· poems and other fictional works (narratives, dramas) concerned with the theme in the different cultural traditions

· The ‘fall of the angels' in its relashionship to mythology

· The ‘fall of the angels' in its relashionship to art and iconography

· The ‘fall of the angels' in its relashionship to psychoanalysis

All aspects of literature, the visual arts, music, philosophy, theology, history of religions, folklore and/or cultures are welcome.

Please send by November 15, 2010 proposals for essays (150 to 350 words) accompanied by a short bio-bibliography and the titles of works to be treated in the proposed essay to to Carlo Saccone (carlo.saccone@unibo.it) editor of this volume.

Quaderni di Studi Indo-Mediterranei accepts proposals and essays in all major European languages. The editors of the volume will strive for a balanced and diversified table of contents. The final deadline for submitting the complete essays will be May 15, 2011. The average length recommended for each contribution is of 4,000 words, with a maximum length allowed of 5,000 words, including footnotes and bibliographical references.

The journal Quaderni di Studi Indo-Mediterranei is based at the University of Bologna, Italy, and is supported by ASTREA (Associazione di Studi e Ricerche Euro-Asiatiche). Editor in Chief: Carlo Saccone; Board of Editors: Daniela Boccassini, Alessandro Grossato, Carlo Saccone.
