Space, Haunting, Discourse
15-18 June, 2006

The department of English at Karlstad University, Sweden, invites session organizers and presentations for an international, multidisciplinary conference with a focus on different relationships between space, haunting and discourse. We are very happy that a number of people from different countries and disciplines responded to our first call, which means that the conference will be a truly international and interdisciplinary forum for presentations and discussions related to the conference themes.

With this second call for session organizers and papers we encourage researchers, teachers and students in different disciplines to send in proposals for sessions, problem areas and topics that explore discourses on space in different disciplines. We hope to attract researchers from fields in the natural sciences as well as from the humanities and social sciences.

The suggestions on the list below are meant to serve as triggers for brainstorming and a call for session organizers and topics. The conference organizers would be pleased to have sessions on these or other aspects of the conference's general theme: space related to haunting and/or different discourses.

- Mediated Space
- Discourse and Outer Space
- Space vs. Place
- Destabilizing Notions of Space
- Haunted Spaces: Haunting Discourses
- Cultural Space
- Inner and Outer Space
- Gender and Space
- Topography: Fictional and Material Spaces
- Postcolonial Hauntings (Re-Collections): Voodoo in Cyberspace
- Cyber Cartographies
- Dystopias and Utopias
- Space and Time
