This panel will look at short fiction with a focus on theory and criticism. The panel is "open topic" in that papers can focus on short fiction in any genre or period. Possible papers could consider but are not limited to questions and problems associated with the genre of the short story itself, short fiction in the classroom, serialization as short fiction, author/theme/gender studies, historical approaches to short fiction, the politics and practices of anthologies, critical/theoretical practices in the reading or construction of short fiction.
