Rhetoric and Democracy

Publié le par Natalie Maroun (Source : Kirstin Skjelstad)

What role does rhetoric play in contemporary democracy? How do rhetorical elements reveal and confirm values and norms in society? How does rhetoric create and influence interpretations of world views, and in turn, influence political debates, institutions, opinion formations and processes in democratic societies?

These are among the questions that will be addressed in this international PhD-course organized by The Research Initiative on Democracy at University of Oslo in cooperation with The French-Norwegian Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences at Maison des sciences de l'homme in Paris. The course is a three day seminar with lectures and workshops in Paris, with international lecturers. Working language will be English.
