"READING IMAGES AND SEEING WORDS"
One-day conference, 12 May 2001, French Department, Trinity College Dublin,
Ireland.
The colloquium intends to explore such issues as:
- the place of visual stimuli in discourse
- the signifying function of words and/or images
- the possibility of a narrative deep structure in art, theatre or film
- the replacement of the written medium by a visual one
- the interplay of text and image in the "new media" (i.e. internet,
advertising)
- the relationship between thought, language and imagery
Researchers from all disciplines are very welcome. Please send proposals
of approx. 300 words to the following address by 26 February 2001:
