PhD position, Maghrebian Literature in French/Romance Studies

TVL 13 (75%) by first of December 2016 (maximum grant period three years)

at the Department of Romance Studies - University of Mannheim.

Within the framework of an interdisciplinary DFG research project on North African representations of memory, the holder of the post shall analyze Maghrebian Literature in French. Starting from the question of how postcolonial literature re-appropriates different cultural layers of memory, the intended PhD-study aims at interpreting twentieth-century texts which represent North African Antiquity.

Application requirements:

A Master in Romance Studies including an excellent expertise in literature, especially in French and Francophone Literature. Expertise in other disciplines such as Comparative Literature and Classical philology are welcome but not a precondition. Knowledge of Latin (e.g. Latinum) will be an advantage. The application requires the following documents: detailed curriculum vitae with specific information about your scholarly interests, a letter of motivation (a letter of reference is welcome if written by a university teacher providing information about the candidate’s scholarly potential; it can be sent directly), the transcript of records and a certified copy of the diploma.
