LECTURERSHIP IN FRENCH

The Governing Body proposes, if a suitable candidate presents himself or herself, to elect a Fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturer in French for the academic year October 2007 to September 2008 (during Dr Richard Scholar's absence on research leave).

The Lecturer will be required to teach an average of 6 hours per week during term time for the College, or for other colleges either under an exchange arrangement or in return for payment to be remitted to the College.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach literature tutorials for the Preliminary (first-year) Examination and for the following papers in the Final Honour School – Paper VII (Topics in the Period of Literature 1530-1800) and Paper X (Prescribed Authors: from among Rabelais, Montaigne, Pascal, Molière, Racine, Voltaire, and Diderot) – as well as language classes at first, second, and final year level. He or she will be called on to take part in the admissions exercise and internal examinations for the College and will
be expected to share in the organization of tuition for undergraduates.

The basic stipend will be £11,166 per annum. The Lecturer will be entitled to free lunch and dinner at the Common Table. Other allowances may also be available. Contributory membership of USS (the Universities Superannuation Scheme) is offered.
