French is a leading discipline in teaching and research in the University, offering programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in a wide range of areas, including degrees in Arts, Business and Law. The successful applicant will hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in French, and will contribute to teaching across the range of programmes in French, to research and to administration in these and other areas. Applications are sought in any area of culture or society in modern France; preference may be given to candidates with expertise in French society and politics, or cinema, or French and francophone cultural studies.

Salary Scale (new entrants 2011)*:  €31,821 - €51,270 

*Existing public servants continuously employed in the public sector on/after 31st December 2010 will be placed on the 2010 salary scales (non new entrants).
