Exeter Graduate Fellowship in Modern Languages

The School of Modern Languages at the University of Exeter invites applications for a Fellowship for a suitably qualified student wishing to study for a PhD in French, German, Hispanic Studies, Russian or Film Studies, starting in October 2006.

Exeter Graduate Fellowships provide a contribution to living costs at Research Council-funded rates (currently £12,000 per year) plus full remission of fees (currently £3160). The holder will be required to give classes to undergraduate students of Modern Languages for approximately 6 hours per week during the two teaching semesters, October-January and February-May. Depending on applications received and teaching needs, 50% awards may also be made, providing a contribution of £6000 towards living costs and 50% remission of fees in return for approximately 3 hours per week during the two teaching semesters. Training and support will be provided to enable Fellowship holders to develop their teaching and other professional skills. Fellowships are tenable initially for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, and will be renewable thereafter for a further 12 months.

Eligibility for this Exeter Graduate Fellowship is limited to students who register for full-time study on a PhD programme in Modern Languages starting in 2006-07.
