CFP Call for Papers: The Eighteenth Century Revisited
We seek submissions for an interdisciplinary undergraduate/graduate student conference, whose purpose is to stimulate discussion pertaining to the exchange of ideas and the interdisciplinary traditions of the 18th Century. This conference, to be held April 18-19, 2008 and supported by the Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures Department at the University of Montana-Missoula, seeks to trace our philosophical and epistemological “roots” within the Enlightenment and beget connections to contemporary literature, history, and science.
While papers focusing on the history of ideas, literature, and epistemology are ideal, we invite proposals relevant to the 18th Century from all disciplines. Papers on the intersections between science and literature are especially welcome. Panels will consist of 3-4 presenters with a commentator. Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes. The presenter must be able to present in English; however, the question/answer session may be discussed in French with simultaneous English translation.
Deadline for 250-word abstracts is March 1, 2008.
Please send abstracts and a short CV (English only) by email to:
