Director of the Maison Française at the University of Virginia

The Department of French seeks applications for the position of Director of the UVa French House (Maison Française). This appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer, non tenure-track, with a three-year term beginning in August 2015. Along with duties related to the administration of the House, which include supervision of French House Staff and annual recruitment of residents, the Director will serve as course coordinator for one Intermediate level French course and teach 5 courses per year in the undergraduate French program. Subject areas of particular need include: French language (beginning to advanced levels), composition and conversation, survey of French literature and culture. Full-time salary with full-time benefits.

Candidate must have prior teaching experience at the college level, a strong commitment to teaching, and near-native fluency in French; preference will be given to candidates with experience with department methodologies, textbooks, and course offerings. Experience teaching Business French would also be an asset, as would experience working with students in a residential setting. Candidate must have a Master's degree in French (or in Second Language Acquisition, with teaching experience in French); preference will be given to candidates with a completed PhD or ABD status.
