Call for applications: Institut Français d’Amérique Research Fellowships (deadline January 15, 2016)
The Institut Français d’Amérique announces its annual fellowship competition for two to four $1500 awards for maintenance (not travel) to support North American researchers in France for a period of at least one month. Details and application instructions are below. Please feel free to share this information with doctoral students and early-career researchers in all sub-fields of French Studies.

CANDIDACY:
North American doctoral candidates in their final stage of Ph.D. dissertation writing, or North American researchers with Ph.D. held no longer than three years before application deadline of January 15.
FIELDS:
French studies in the areas of: art, economics, history, history of science, linguistics, literature and social sciences.
APPLICATION:
No application form. Applicants should write two pages maximum describing the research project and planned trip (location, length of stay, materials to be consulted, etc.), and include a current curriculum vitae. Please submit this application to institutfrancaisdamerique@gmail.com. A separate confidential letter of recommendation from the dissertation director (under a University letterhead) is required for Ph.D. candidates. A confidential letter from the former dissertation director or another specialist in the field (also under official letterhead) is required for assistant professors. This letter should be sent in a pdf format or as a scanned document directly from the recommender to institutfrancaisdamerique@gmail.com. The deadline for applications is January 15.
REPORT:
Upon return from France, the awardees will send a brief report to the Institut Français d’Amérique about their research and the work they have completed in France.
