acceptance into graduate programs should coincide with your application to the Fulbright program.

academic year. Applicants are responsible for securing affiliation with a host institution in Canada.

Independent Research Awards are intended for researchers who have completed an undergraduate degree at a recognized university and who wish to pursue one year of independent research in Canada or the United
States. Applicants are responsible for securing affiliation with a host institution in their host country.

For information on awards available to Canadian and American faculty members, please visit www.fulbright.ca or www.cies.org. An extensive visiting chairs program has been established between the Canada-US
Fulbright Program and select institutions in Canada and the United States. Though the value of the awards vary according to the institution, they normally carry a value of US$25,000 for one or two semesters. In addition, Traditional Fulbright Scholar grants are available to faculty members wishing to conduct research or teach for four to nine months in the host country.

Canada-U.S. Fulbright awards offer students and scholars in Canada and the United States a unique opportunity to explore important contemporary issues relevant to Canada and the United States and the relationship
between the two countries. By engaging scholars in Canada and the United States in exchanges consistent with the highest standards of academic excellence, the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program seeks to enhance mutual
