Applications for a bursary for a research students expecting to proceed to a Ph D in the School of Languages and European Studies at Aston University are invited in the fields of the Language (including Translation Studies and Discourse Analysis), Culture (including literature), and Politics (including European Studies) of France and Germany/Austria. Awards will cover the University's full-time Home/EU fees (£2 805 for 2001-2) and an allowance for living expenses which will in no case exceed the Economic and Social Research Council rate (currently £6,800 per annum). The award, tenable from 1 October 2001 may cover three academic years, subject always to good progress. To be considered candidates will need to have completed and returned an Aston University application form and additionally to indicate their interest in this bursary. Applications should be sent in by 31st July, 2001.
