Annual conference of the CCLA: Canadian Comparative Literature Association, 26-28 May 2002, University of Toronto and Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.


The general theme of the conference is "Boundaries": We invite papers, or proposals for papers, on the following subjects: Gender, genre, universals in literary and cultural studies, cosmopolitanism, pop culture (gender, genre, geography), immigrant writing, generic boundary/crossing in film, passing as/for, race, spaces accessible to the feminine, mapping culture, European literature and Italy. We also welcome papers on other topics relevant to comparative literature.

Deadline for abstracts is 7 January 2002. Please send papers (20 minutes reading time) or abstracts (400 words) to Angela Esterhammer, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, The University of Western Ontario at angelae@uwo.ca.
