Beginning or Advanced Assistant Professor of French Applied Linguistics (Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville)

The Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in French Applied Linguistics, at the rank of Beginning or Advanced Assistant Professor, to begin fall 2017. PhD required in French Applied Linguistics or related field. Native or near-native proficiency in French and English essential. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and in scholarly research and activities in Applied Linguistics required. Solid experience in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and in directing a large language program preferred. Duties include teaching a full range of graduate and undergraduate courses, including courses in teaching methodology and other areas of expertise such as phonetics, romance linguistics or descriptive linguistics. The position also entails serving as Language Program Director for the (hybrid) lower-division French program, overseeing graduate teaching associates and lecturers.  Reduced teaching load. Salary competitive.
