The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of African Francophone Studies. The department is interested in hiring an innovative and dynamic scholar who will develop a focus in the African Francophone world within our French program. We are seeking candidates with expertise in sub-Saharan African Francophone Studies who are able to teach language courses as well as more general undergraduate literature and culture courses. Area of specialization is open. Start-up funds are provided. Salary commensurate with experience.
Qualified candidates should have a clear and active research agenda, demonstrate excellence in research as well as a strong record of publications. Teaching load includes elementary French courses (levels 1-4) and advanced French and Francophone courses at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate should demonstrate commitment to help strengthening the French program. Native or near-native fluency in French and English is a requirement.
Appointment is scheduled to begin Fall 2016. Review of applications will begin November 30, 2015, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should indicate their availability to interview in person at the 2016 MLA convention.
