28th Annual Research Symposium
in The University of Ulster, Coleraine
on Friday and Saturday, 9th & 10th November, 2001

Offers of papers are invited for the Royal Irish Academys 28th National Research Symposium in Modern Language Studies, to be held in the University of Ulster at Coleraine on 9th and 10th November, 2001. The theme of the symposium is: Translations: Paradigms of Linguistic and Cultural Transformation

Papers may focus on various aspects of linguistic and cultural transformation in the modern languages, including translating language and culture into the classroom, theories of translation, translation and the literary text, the theory and practice of language teaching, theories of bilingualism, bilingual education, etc. Abstracts (300 words maximum) should be sent to Larry Duffy or Pól Ó Dochartaigh, to reach us no later than Friday, 15th June 2001. Papers should be twenty minutes in length, allowing a further ten minutes for discussion. A running order for the Symposium will be sent out in June. A conference website will be maintained at:
