The Theatre of Nature : The Accademia dei Lincei, Observation, and Scientific Interpretation

This panel invites submissions on topics related to the writings of Galileo and the first Accademia dei Lincei (1603-1651) and their influence on the development of observational and experimental science, or what Federico Cesi called the ‘universal theatre of nature,’ in Italian natural philosophy and in European early-modern scientific culture in general. Papers addressing the Accademia’s popularizations of optics and microbiology are especially welcome.
