Présentation du projet:
The intercultural
project “Texte” is a complex endeavor,
aiming to create a literary theory centre.
In the Romanian cultural
field literary theory is quite underrated, both in the critical and
intellectual community and in the university system. Thus, the project
has the responsibility to go against this tendency and to give literary
theory its rightful place, as a necessary instrument of cultural
discourses. Therefore, the stakes of the Texte
project are high and essential to raising awareness and encouraging
accuracy in the Romanian intellectual field.
To meet these objectives, the project encompasses three different approaches to developing and promoting literary theory.
1. 1. The literary theory quarterly Texte [ Magazine ]
The magazine is a
marketable means of developing and promoting literary theory. This is
the best way to be present in both universities and on the market with
theoretical studies and book reviews. The magazine gives us the
opportunity to recruit and train students or people interested in
literary theory. The content, made of quality theoretical articles, is
the work of the editorial body which includes the most important
Romanian theoreticians of the moment.
The Texte
quarterly is lead by a team sharing an interest in the theoretical
phenomena and their influence on the literary and cultural field.
In In order to make the review as relevant and as marketable as possible, it is organized as follows:
•
Thematic file
Each file focuses on a
particular theme, chosen by the editor. It includes between five and
eight theoretical articles. The first part of the file explains the
reasons for choosing a particular subject matter.
Each article is between 6 and 10 pages in size.
Interview
As literary theory is a science that offers solutions, alternatives and interpretations, it also implies ambiguity. Some of the problems encountered within the chosen file theme will be discussed in an interview with a specialist, either Romanian, or foreign.
Concept
This section focuses on defining and explaining unfamiliar concepts from the theoretical field, in accordance with specialized dictionaries.
Recommendations
This section of the magazine is meant to inform the readers about certain books, websites or articles from this field. The editors vouch for the novelty and the wide spectrum of their choices.
Screen adaptations
Each number challenges a guest film critic to write a comparative analysis about both the book and the movie it inspired.
Book reviews
The editors and the
collaborators review the most important books of literary theory,
critic, philosophy and foreign literature, as a reading and
informational guide. Each issue contains about 10 reviews.
The theme of the file is
announced in advance, so that potential collaborators may have time to
propose a certain article and then write it.
The magazine has a
circulation of 200 copies and is distributed in universities around the
country. Furthermore, the magazine is sent to other cultural
institutions and to our partners in Romania or abroad.
The magazine has a number of 6 permanent editors, an editorial body of 7 university professors and over 50 collaborators.
2. The National Literary
Theory Conference [ Conference
]
We organize a conference
where the participants present papers on the theme of the next issue of
the Texte quarterly. During these sessions,
the papers are read by their authors and then discussed by everyone.
Guests from Romania or from abroad take part in the discussions.
Invitations are addressed to education or research centers. The
conference takes place once a year, sometime between March and June.
In June 2009, the first edition of the conference focused on and the subject of fiction in the literary and theoretical field.
3. The Texte
Literary Theory website [http://www.revistatexte.greenartline.ro]
The website aims to sustain
the previous two activities and maintain the relationship with our
partners and professors, with national and foreign literary reviews,
European sites and institutions. The site offers access to articles from
the magazine and to papers from the conference translated in French and
English, in PDF format.
This website provides an
active link to literary centers in Europe and encourages communication
and exchanges between Romanian and foreign students and researchers.
The project was launched on
April 25th
2009, after 4 months of preparation. The initial stage of the project
will continue until 2010. If at that time, the project meets its
objectives, it will be continued for another 2 years.
The Intercultural Project Texte is developed by the Green Art Line Association in partnership with the Tudor Vianu Centre of Literary and Cultural Studies. So far, our partners are Art, Vellant and Cartier publishing houses, Observator Cultural and Verso reviews, as well as Radio Romania Cultural.
