An international symposium on British literary auto/biography is due to be held in June 2002 at the Ecole Normale Superieure Fontenay, now relocated in Lyons, France. Contributions are solicited for a collection of essays to be later edited by the convener. The general theme of the conference is:

"Mapping the Self: Space, Identity, Discourse in British Literary Auto/Biography"

Essays are expected to look into such issues as topographies of the self, space and identity, ipseity and alterity, life-writing and spatial structures, spatial metaphors and speaking positions in life-writing, transparency and displacement, etc.

Proposals and inquiries should be sent to F. Regard (regard@internaute.fr) by the end of May.
