RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS
IN FRENCH STUDIES

Several postgraduate research studentships are on offer from the University of London Institute in Paris for 2006-07:

• The Hamilton Studentship is a postgraduate award for full-time study in Paris providing funds to meet tuition fees at Home/EU rates and a maintenance grant of £12,500. The award is available for research in French Studies, understood in the widest sense, as related to the study of France but preference may be given to research projects with a comparative perspective focused on France and Great Britain.

• The Nathan, Quinn and Esmond Studentships, provide funds of up to a value of £4,500 as a contribution towards maintenance and tuition. Studentships are intended primarily for research leading to the PhD degree of the University of London.

The Institute can provide supervision in a wide range of areas, including 20th Century Intellectual History, Gender Studies, Cinema and Visual Culture, Theatre Studies, Second Language Acquisition, Literature and Textual Genetics, Pragmatics and Applied Linguistics.

Further details, conditions of eligibility and the application form are available from www.ulip.lon.ac.uk/courses/research/index.html or by writing to the Director's Office, University of London Institute in Paris, 9-11 rue de Constantine, 75340 Paris Cedex 07, France (e-mail: director.office@ulip.lon.ac.uk).

Deadline for applications: 31 May 2006

Within the framework of the new Consortium which the Institute has formed with partner colleges of the University of London, one further PhD Studentship is also available for research in French Studies at Royal Holloway.
