College Lectureship in Nineteenth-Century French Literature and Culture at Churchill College,

University of Cambridge, UK

In association with a Teaching Bye-Fellowship at Selwyn College

Applications are invited for the above joint post of College Lecturer in Nineteenth-Century French Literature and Culture to take up appointment from 1 June 2016. The post will allow both Colleges to continue the excellent record of small-group teaching in Nineteenth-Century French Literature and Culture previously provided by Alison Finch (Churchill) and Michael Tilby (Selwyn). The post is intended to give someone near the beginning of an academic career an opportunity to acquire training and experience that may lead to a permanent university appointment. Consideration will therefore only be given to candidates who by the starting date expect to have a relevant PhD but not to have completed more than five-years of post-PhD academic employment. The post includes a Fellowship at Churchill College and a Bye-Fellowship at Selwyn College. The post is a fixed-term, four-year appointment. In the final year of appointment, the post will be reviewed and it is possible that it could at that point be renewed to the retirement age. The closing date is 30 March 2016. Selected candidates will be called for interview during week commencing 18 April 2016.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact the Senior Tutor at Churchill College, Dr Sally Boss: srb39@cam.ac.uk or the Senior Tutor at Selwyn College, Dr Mike Sewell: senior.tutor@sel.cam.ac.uk.
