PHICS: A Graduate Student Conference on Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, and Cognitive Science.

Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
September 28 to 30, 2001.

WHAT IS PHICS?

The PHICS Conference (Philosophy and Cognitive Science) is aimed at bringing students from the Philosophy of Mind and the Philosophy of Language together with students in the other cognitive sciences to foster cross-disciplinary discussion and debate.

PHICS is organized jointly by graduate students in Carleton's departments of Philosophy and Cognitive Science, and will include a number of refereed contributions from graduate (and undergraduate) students in addition to an address by a keynote speaker (TBA) and a mini-symposium on the relevance of Kant to Cognitive Science and contemporary Philosophy of Mind.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Submissions are welcome from all areas of cognitive science, the philosophy of mind, the philosophy of language, and the history of philosophy and cognitive science. In particular, we would like to encourage submissions that cross the traditional disciplinary boundaries to report or comment on recent theoretical or experimental results. All submissions will be subject to a blind review process, and the proceedings of the conference will be published in PDF format on the conference web site.

The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2001. Although PHICS is primarily intended for graduate students, submissions from undergraduates will also be considered.

For more details about the conference, the program, and submission requirements please see the conference web site at:
