April 14 – 16, 2005

The Graduate Students Association of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Tulane University invites submissions for its 8th Annual Cultural Encounters Conference. The organizing committee will consider papers that explore issues of music, urban space, gender, and nation in all areas and periods of Iberian and Latin American culture, society, politics, language, literature, and criticism.

To present a paper, please submit a 300 word abstract in Spanish, Portuguese, or English in addition to one separate page listing the following: Title of paper, your name, academic affiliation, address, and telephone number.

Reading time of papers will be limited to 20 minutes. Registration fees are $20 for students and $30 for professors. The committee will respond by March 14, 2005. Abstracts may be submitted either electronically or by mail.
