Call for Papers

300-500 word abstracts for papers and panel sesions on the
conference topic, Literature and the Law, will be due on
February 16, 2001. Works by any author, in any period in
any genre will be considered.

Suggested topics:
Legal issues in literature
The lawyer figure in literary works
Civil, criminal, canon, Judaic, and Christian law in literature
A selected author and the law
Censorship and freedom of expression
Women and the law
Racial and ethnic issues
Film noir and current movies with legal themes

A $100 cash prize sponsored by the NYCEA for the best
presentation by a graduate student will be awarded
at the conclusion of the conference.
