This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of multiple disciplines in order to help shape the future of literary-led creative practices and their ability to speak to pressing social issues. We are seeking a visionary individual who cares about the challenges and opportunities facing the creative sector across different cultural contexts, and has the imagination to model alternatives to the status quo. The post-holder will join Lancaster’s lively community of research leaders across literatures, languages, and creative practices in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and will be affiliated with the newly-formed Institute for Social Futures (ISF: http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/social-futures/). Departmental attachment will be provided as best fits the disciplinary background. Particular areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, emergent literary practices (including narrative innovation and the digital humanities), design fiction, translation and transnationalism, ecocriticism, medical humanities and urban futures.
This post has been created to pioneer new applications of humanities expertise in transdisciplinary contexts within and beyond academe. It is part of a wider move to consolidate existing digital humanities research across the university, as well as open up a space for new future-forming connections that can be made between humanities expertise and digital applications.
The broad aims of this post are:
