INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA, CANADA
MAY 4-6, 2006

Cultures in Transit:
Cultural Mobility in Brazil and Canada

Sustained mobility has become a hallmark of culture under conditions of globalization. The much diversified inflows and outflows of increased human migrations as well as the distance-shrinking effect of a leaps and bounds telecommunication technology sector are often cited as major, and at times overdetermining, factors of such a global condition. Conjointly, they shape a culture increasingly “on the move”. The comparative description and analysis of cultural transits as they occur in both Brazil and Canada will be the focus of this conference.
