APPEL À CONTRIBUTIONS
 

La conférence doctorale de la Société des dix-neuviémistes est de retour cette année avec un colloque sur le thème « Echanges et changements », qui aura lieu le samedi 15 septembre à King’s College London. Nous invitons les doctorants à soumettre des propositions pour des communications de 20 minutes, soit en anglais, soit en français. Les sujets abordés pourront relever de diverses approches des études sur le dix-neuvième siècle français et francophone. Les thèmes de recherche peuvent aborder les questions suivantes sans toutefois s'y limiter:

-          Echanges interculturels, relations changeantes, réactions face au changement

-          Echanges monétaires : dots, contrats, vente et achat, héritages, testaments, dettes, chantage, vol, faillite

-          Changements socio-économiques : bouleversements politiques, capitalisme, révolution industrielle

-          Echanges de lettres : contrats, romans épistolaires, relations épistolaires

-          Dynamique de l’écriture: la lecture comme échange entre le lecteur et l’auteur, pacte de lecture, écriture et séduction

-           ‘Changer de l’encre en or’: alchimie et économie de l’écriture

-          Du roman au film: les adaptations littéraires

-          Dialogisme, polyphonie, intertextualité

-          Echange de serments

-          Changements de vêtements : mode, identité, déguisement

-          Le corps changeant: métamorphose, déclin physique, maladie, mort

-          Du vouvoiement au tutoiement: échange de confidences, secrets et rumeur

-          Ecriture et communication

-          Le ‘journal intime’ au 19ème siècle – échange avec l’Autre / échange avec le moi

CALL FOR PAPERS

 

We invite proposals for twenty-minute papers, in either English or French, treating aspects of the conference theme in relation to nineteenth-century French and Francophone culture, music, history or art history. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

 

-          Intercultural exchange; changing relationships; responses to change

-          Exchange of money: dowries, contracts, buying and selling, inheritances and wills, debt, blackmail, theft, bankruptcy

-          Socio-economic change; political upheaval; capitalism; the industrial revolution

-          Exchanges of letters: letters as contract, the letter-novel, the epistolary relationship

-          The dynamics of reading: reading as an exchange between the writer and the reader; the ‘contract’ of reading; writing and seduction

-          ‘Changing ink into gold’: the alchemy / economics of writing

-          From novel to film: literary adaptations

-          Dialogism, polyphony, intertextuality

-          Exchange of vows

-          A change of clothes: fashions, identity, disguise

-          The changing body: metamorphosis, physical decline, illness, decay, death

-          Changing from ‘vous’ to ‘tu’: exchanging confidences, secrets and gossip

-          Writing as communication

-          The ‘journal intime’ in the 19th century – an exchange with the Other/ an exchange with the self
