Literary into Cultural History (New Europe College, 25-26 May 2007) is the second international interdisciplinary conference organized by the Centre of Excellence for the Study of Cultural Identity of the University of Bucharest. The event will bring together cultural historians of worldwide reputation. Peter Burke (Cambridge University), George Rousseau (Oxford University), Francois Hartog (Ecole dea Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris), Jose Esteves Pereira (Universidade Nova de Lisboa) are the keynote speakers. Their respondents are academics from Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Romania, UK, USA.
The conference agenda will cover such questions as: history and the disciplinary separation, forms and varieties of history, literary history as a modern cultural institution, history/ies and the humanities, the history of ideas / intellectual history, cultural history / material history / social history, the return of interdisciplinarity.
