Creative Writing: the Rhetorical Use of Humor

Publié le par Thomas Parisot (Source : CFP)

Deadline for Submissions: November 1, 2001

This year the Creative Writing Committee of the GES Conference will focus around the rhetorical use of humor to produce Poe's "singular effect" upon readers. We are specifically looking for pieces, which explore the various rhetorical uses of humor in fiction, and which can be presented in a 15-20 minute time span. These pieces can be of a serious nature; in fact, serious submissions are encouraged.

The Creative Writing Committee is accepting works of fiction, meta-fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. Please send the entire work to be presented, along with a cover letter and a 150-word abstract summarizing the "singular effect" of the work. Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, numbered, and headed with the author's last name. Submitters will be informed the last week of November if they have been selected to read at the conference.

E-mail submissions are strongly encouraged; please note "GES Conference Proposal" in the subject line for all electronic submissions. Participants may present no more than two creative works.

Abstracts and inquiries should be addressed to:
